BEACH HANDBALL SHOW FRONT OF ST. STEPHEN'S BASILICA

Hungarian organizers drew attention to the sport itself and to the upcoming world championship with a spectacular show. In the heart of Budapest, front of St. Stephen’s Basilica a small beach handball pitch has been built to showcase the attractiveness of this beautiful sport by the help of the Hungarian national teams. Fans could try out the game and join to the players to learn more about it.

Both of the Hungarian national teams are among the possible candidates to win a medal at the
VII IHF WORLD BEACH HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, which will be held from the 12th of July until the 17th of July at Palatinus Beach in Budapest.

The World Championship will be held after the football European Championship, but before the Olympics, when Margaret Island and Palatinus Beach are perfect locations for a chilled day in the hot summer.

The event is ideal for handball fans and also for people who are not familiar with beach handball where many experts expecting Hungarian medals. The Hungarian women’s national team won the European Championship in 2013 and 2015, won silver medal at the World Games in 2013 and became also silver medalist at the World Championship in 2014 so we can say on home soil they are one of the favorites.

After a 4th place at last year’s European Championship the Hungarian men’s national team wants to be in the elite again and step on the podium.

22 teams will come to join to their Hungarian rivals from all over the world, from Brazil all across Norway till Australia. This will be the hottest sport event of the summer and the organizers are preparing with a fan zone which will be an ideal place to connect the sport experience with the summer chilling. The logo of the event represents everything what beach handball is about: the warm weather of summer, the sand what reminds everybody to the beach feeling, and the easy, yet exciting atmosphere.


And to ensure the fun continues until the evening, popular DJs will provide the music every day!

Daily tickets are for 790 HUF, while weekly passes can be bought for 2990 HUF. The ones who have valid tickets for Palatinus beach for that day can visit the event for free. Registered handball players can buy their weekly pass for 1480 HUF; children less than 14 years old can enter for free.
