IHF President Moustafa personally launched

On the occasion of signing the contract for the organisation of the VII Beach Handball World Championships on 27 April, Dr Hassan Moustafa, President of the International Handball Federation, visited Budapest, Hungary. The flagship event of beach handball will take place on the beautiful Margareth Island in the River Danube in the Hungarian capital from 12 to 17 July 2016. Twelve teams each in both the men’s and women’s competitions qualified for the championship, with Brazil being reigning champions in both categories. The draw for the event will also take place in Budapest and is scheduled for 12 May. During his visit, IHF President Moustafa personally launched the official website of the 2016 Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships.

The signing of the contract and the official launch of the Beach Handball World Championships’ website was followed by a Gala dinner staged in the Varosliget Café Ceremonial Hall with the participation of Dr Hassan Moustafa, Dr Máté Kocsis, President of the Hungarian Handball Federation (HHF), István Tarlós, major of Budapest, Kozmann György, Deputy Secretary of State, András Novák, HHF Secretary General, and Gabriella Horvát, HHF Deputy Secretry General responsible for International Affairs, among other distinguished guests.

Prior to the dinner, the IHF President was introduced to the recent developments in Hungarian handball during his visit to the National Handball Academy. Before his departure on 28 April, Dr Moustafa met with Peter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
